Connect Your LinkedIn Account Using Cookies

Sometimes, connecting your LinkedIn account through cookies can be more sustainable, especially if you experience frequent disconnections. This method is particularly necessary for LinkedIn Recruiter accounts and accounts secured via SSO, as the connection will be blocked otherwise.

There are 2 methods you can choose from:

  • Installing a cookie editor extension
  • Grabbing the cookies manually.

Installing a Cookie Editor Extension

Step 1: Install a Cookie Editor Extension

First, you'll need a Chrome extension that allows you to view and edit cookies. We recommend "Cookie Editor," which you can find in the Chrome Web Store.

Install this extension in your Chrome browser.

Step 2: Access LinkedIn's Cookie Information

  • Go to LinkedIn.com and make sure you're logged in
  • Click on the EditThisCookie extension icon in your browser
  • In the list of cookies, look for one named "li_at"
  • Copy the value of this cookie

We can see both "li_a" and "li_at" at the bottom of the Cookie Editor list in this screenshot.

Simply click on the "li_a" or "li_at" cookie value, and copy the entire content of the text "Value".

Step 3: Use the Cookie to Connect on Botdog.co

  • Common errors include: Not pasting both li_at and li_a cookies, inverting the li_a and li_at cookies, not pasting the entire text, adding an extra white space before or after the text_
  • Go to Botdog.co and navigate to the LinkedIn connection screen
  • You'll see two options: "Credentials" and "Cookies"
  • Select the "Cookies" option
  • Paste the "li_at" cookie value you copied from LinkedIn into the appropriate field
  • If you have a LinkedIn Sales Navigator or Recruiter account, repeat this process with cookie "li_a" (so you have both li_a and li_at)

Note: If you're using both cookies, make sure you're pasting each one in the correct field, or the connection won't work.

Step 4: Complete the Connection

  • After pasting the cookie value, click on the "Login" button
  • Botdog.co will use this cookie to authenticate your LinkedIn account

Important Notes:

  • This method can be more technical but often provides a more stable connection
  • Cookies do expire, so you may need to repeat this process periodically (every few months or so - you will get an email notification if this happens)
  • If you encounter any issues, don't hesitate to contact our support team for assistance

Grabbing Cookies Manually

If you’d prefer not to install the extension, you can also grab the cookies manually using your browser by taking the following steps:

  • Open LinkedIn and make sure you're logged in
  • Right-click anywhere on the page → click Inspect OR use the shortcut to open inspect quickly (Windows: Ctrl + Shift + C; Mac: Cmd + Shift + C)
  • Go to the Application tab → Cookies → select LinkedIn
  • Copy the values for li_at and li_a

By using this cookie-based method, you can maintain a more consistent connection between Botdog.co and your LinkedIn account, potentially reducing disconnection issues and improving your automation experience.
